Wordpress email setup guide for iphone
A quick guide to setting up an email with your web hosting account. This could be used for your work email address, or any scenario that requires you setting up a self hosted email address on your iphone.
These instructions are for my website xzib.com, and helping collaborators setup email addresses. Please replace xzib.com as needed for other websites. If you are working with me and setting up an @xzib.com email address, please follow instructions.
1 Choose settings
2 Open Mail
3 Scroll Down, Choose
4 Click Add Account
5 Click Other
6 Click Add Mail Account
7 Fill in following these directions.
8 A new screen will open, follow these directions
9 A screen will pop up saying verifying
10 Turn off Notes
DONE.
This should work. And you should have email configured for your cell phone. If not, things get very complicated because wireless providers and self hosted email addresses can be a challenge.
Trouble shooting steps
Step #1 Check the password
Step #2 Confirm all information was entered correctly as described above
If you are brave, continue to step #3. In a worst case scenario you can always delete all settings.
Steps #3 Edit outgoing server settings
*Outgoing server port 587 is specific to my hosting package.
Contact your hosting provider for your suggested port settings.
Replace XZIB with your domain(if you are setting up email addresses
Steps #4 Edit incoming server
Incoming server port *993 is specific to my hosting package.
Contact your hosting provider for your suggested port settings.
Steps #4 modify server
If the above process are not working, it may be prudent to contact your host to ask if they reccomend using the server IP address as the hostname. Instead of using mail.xxxx.com
