Details

Tanya Brillembourg Art, located in Key Biscayne, is a gallery specializing in contemporary artists based in Miami. If you’re looking to see quality work curated with an expert eye, this is the place. Ms. Brillembourg and her associates warmly welcome all who walk in the door, whether one is an artist or a collector. Currently on view is a group show in which the work is varied yet harmonious in its consideration of formal qualities such as geometry and color.

These are just some of the excellent artists in this summer exhibition that reflects the gallery’s statement, “We represent artists from diverse geographical and cultural backgrounds who construct their work by combining creativity with experimentation.”

Sterling Rook

Of particular note are works by Sterling Rook, an artist in residence at the Bakehouse Art Complex in Wynwood, whose colorful, twisting abstract pieces extend the language of sculpture and fiber art.

Laura Villarreal has a different sensibility when creating with fibers. Neon green threads form her installation inspired by the walls of her native Mexico. On a smaller scale, she wove designs taught to her by a master of traditional Mayan patterns into antique book pages.

Juan Raul Hoyos

Juan Raul Hoyos’ large painting from his “Contraposto Series” is both bold and subtle. Works in the series are “based on drawing, like that activity that is inherent to the human being, which has the characteristic of intimacy, of recollection.”
