An extraordinary bar cabinet by Italian architect and designer Paolo Buffa who not only defined his own unique design aesthetic but also became one of the most sought-after Italian designers of his day.

This breathtaking bar cabinet was made by Italian master Paolo Buffa (1903-1970) around 1939 in Italy. The piece has a stunning and imposing appearance due to many details and its overall form and use of materials. This piece in entirely covered on the front and sides by diamond shaped walnut panels. The body of the cabinet it is supported by a wooden base with a characteristic crossing with curly ends. In the center of both doors there are thick faceted ashlar placed that create another special detail in this design. These are considered an absolute novelty as well as elements of great expressive recognisability of the work of Paolo Buffa.

The interior is equipped with a variety of shelving, high and low, for storing bottles and glasses. In the center there are drawers present. This piece was manufactured around 1939 in Cantù by Serafino Arrighi, who produced many of Buffa`s furniture designs in small editions or as unique pieces.

Paolo Buffa was an Italian furniture designer who is known for his Neoclassical and streamlined Art Deco Styles. Born in Milan in 1903, Buffa studied at the Politecnico di Milano. After graduating, he worked for a short period for Gio Ponti. Already in 1928, he was able to establish his own design studio in Milan, together with architect Antonio Cassi Ramelli. By 1936, Buffa eventually opened his own design studio where he mostly focused on pieces in an Art Deco style. It was especially during this period that he gained popularity and grew up to be one of the most sought-after designers of his time.

APACHETA, se caracteriza por el diálogo de diferentes texturas y definiciones de cada material, un paralelismo con ciertas características de estos paisajes únicos.
La relación explícita entre los materiales, los textiles de loropiana Loro Piana Interiors, que acompañan y abrazan estos elementos artesanales de madera, generando infinitas texturas, y que fueron colocados de tal forma que en algún momento cumplieron una función en el mobiliario, tal vez como un soporte de soporte, o simplemente como un enlace de piezas.
Así también, la cerámica se transforma en lagos, salares, glaciares o mares, que por su brillo nos atraen a estos lugares.
Apachata recrea paisajes imaginarios que buscan ser explorados en 360 grados.

#MILANTRACE2023 | OMG-GMO by robertstadlerparis is a series of whimsical ceramic objects for carwangallery presented in partnership with 5vie_milano at Milan Design Week 2023 in an exhibition curated by nb_lecompte. Over two years in the making, the objects were handmade by the Italian family-owned ceramics company bitossi_ceramiche.
The Austrian-born designer has been critically engaging with current issues throughout his decades-long career. With OMG-GMO, Robert offers a witty comment on the relationship between humans and their environment, as seen through the genetic manipulation of fruit and vegetables. Yellow bananas, fleshy avocados, leeks, carrots, and many other staples of our shopping baskets are transformed into humorous functional objects, many of which reference shapes of iconic pieces from design history.
