Distinguished by a deep connection to the natural, each designer prioritizes the inherent qualities of the materials they work with - retaining the meaningful and essential as they transform their raw material into cutting-edge design. Join us through Sunday, December 4 at Design Miami to explore Dreamroom, our debut presentation at the fair. For our first year, we chose four exceptional artists, each with distinct but complementary practices, to transform archetypal bedroom furniture into something new and unexpected. The resulting installation exemplifies the gallery’s contemporary program.Works on view include a six-foot tall ceramic tile block armoire by Sean Gerstley, a carved teak and river rock folding screen by Kim Mupangilaï, a nightstand with a hot rod paint job by Ellen Pong, and 3D collage birdhouse speakers that lull listeners to sleep with the sounds of nature by Ryan Decker.📸 Sean Davidson (seandavidson).

Come see us in Miami!!For our debut Curio booth at Design Miami / 2022, we’re thrilled to be presenting “Dreamroom.” The immersive bedroom scene takes a conceptual nod from the model homes of World’s Fairs past, imagining the bedroom of the near future. Four gallery artists and designers — Ellen Pong, Kim Mupangilaï, Ryan Decker, and Sean Gerstley — transform archetypal bedroom furniture, like the platform bed, folding screen, nightstand, and even the white noise machine into something new and unexpected.Design Miami/ Miami Beach

Curio at Design Miami/ 2022CHRONOS by Objects of Common Interest
Curated by Mr.Lawrence
The time we dedicate to any object – its use, its contemplation – could be considered the
measure of its effectiveness. The true meaning of its existence. However, time is still seen as a human construct. Early Greek philosophers considered Chronos (meaning “time” in Greek) as an illusion. The project by Object of Common Interest requires time to activate a perception that is fully here and now. The material interacts with the slightest variations of light and colors, and with the soft movements of the draping. Aristotle treated time as a measure of motion. Motions of things, motions of human beings.designmiami#designmiami

Todd Merrill Studio

Todd Merrill Studio represents an international group of established and emerging artists, each with a singular artistic vision and unprecedented point of view. In creating unique works of collectible design, each artist takes a hands-on approach that intersects contemporary design, fine art, traditional craft techniques, and pioneering innovation. Individually, through meticulous craftsmanship and rigorous studio experimentation, each has developed leading-edge, proprietary methods that break previously set inherent limitations of conventional materials like wood, metal, plaster, concrete, ceramics, glass, and resin. Their intimate studio approach fosters an atmosphere of creativity where the work rendered significantly bears the hand of the artist.
