The Max Radford Gallery has always sought to exhibit works experimenting with the parameters of design; with a continuous examination of the fine art world within London and its suggestions of design objects and domestic space-based narratives, the need to show works from both fields has been a pressure on the gallery.

I’m a massive donnawilsonltd fan so obviously her 20 Years popup was at the top of my list for this year’s l_d_f_official . Seeing all of Donna’s creations from throughout her amazing career together in one space was so exciting - I mean would you just look at all these gorgeous soft toys 😍 As well as being able to see Donna’s sketchbooks and early creations, you can shop a massive selection of ceramics, textiles and accessories in-store. I bought a blind-box toy and a bath mat in the shape of a house 🏠 There’ll also be a sample sale in the space next weekend which I will more than likely be visiting 😬 It’s on until this Sunday the 24th and you must go.
Location: 135 Bethnal Green Road, E2 7DG (nearest station Shoreditch High Street).
Combine with: check out the Shoreditch Design Triangle LDF programme.

We asked the local community to nominate an unsung Peckham Hero, and PL Member, Leanne Perro was put forward as the clear winner. 🏆❤️
Leanne is the founder of blackwomenrisinguk & blackmenrisinguk , a social enterprise working to create more cancer awareness amongst POC. 🖤
Alongside this, she also founded themovementfactory a youth dance and community organisation that recently celebrated its 20year anniversary. 🥳
You`ll agree - Leanne was the perfect subject for this incredible mural by zabouartist. 🎨
Working mostly with spray paint, Zabou creates large-scale black and white portraits with colourful backgrounds. Her artworks are both striking and thought-provoking, and focus on the expression and emotions of her subjects. She likes to push visual and spatial boundaries, sometimes creating playful pieces.

“We are delighted to announce that we are working with Ash & Plumb, a woodworking studio founded by artists in wood Barnaby Ash & Dru Plumb. Their work is a celebration of the imperfect, a collaborative process with each other, as well as with the material itself. They are drawn to weathered, beaten and aged finishes, specialising in the alchemy of patina and unique surface.
Here you can see their work in progress for their new ‘Anticuus’ lighting collection, 3 different pendent lights, launching at London Design Festival. The duo have collaborated with The New Craftsmen to launch the turned wood statement lights, in partnership with interior designer Louise East. These hand-crafted lights will be the first collection in The New Craftsmen`s `Beacon` series with Louise - a series that is both a homage to heritage and new, more human approach to lighting for interiors.

Responding to this year`s theme of `making is thinking`, this model gives an insight into the collaborative and iterative process of testing ideas through #modelmaking. Inspired by the more than 1,300 Neolithic stone circles and monuments that are scattered across Britain, Ireland and Brittany, Henge was an open yet focussed gathering space that we developed in collaboration with lsi_stone, webbyates, steevieweevy and experimentadesign, for the 2022 edition l_d_f_official.

‘Internalised energy.’
A biomorphic ceramic sculpture as part of my genetic Pleomorphs, I designed this to showcase the shapes bifurcating genes take and then apply a surrealist lens to imagine new points of genetic branches emanating. In molecular biology, molecules exist in a state that works for them energetically. That means sometimes they may do weird things which is not necessarily common but for a given scenario, it may be the preferred state of being.
And continuing the theme of exploring spheres in space as energy points, the internalisation of energy (white sphere) makes this process of branching energetically favourable, in space. With that creating new shapes in negative space 🖤

A biomorphic ceramic sculpture as part of my genetic Pleomorphs, I designed this to showcase the shapes bifurcating genes take and then apply a surrealist lens to imagine new points of genetic branches emanating. In molecular biology, molecules exist in a state that works for them energetically. That means sometimes they may do weird things which is not necessarily common but for a given scenario, it may be the preferred state of being.
And continuing the theme of exploring spheres in space as energy points, the internalisation of energy (white sphere) makes this process of branching energetically favourable, in space. With that creating new shapes in negative space 🖤

We are very excited to announce the Open Call for Submissions to 11:11 - An exhibition of design and craft excellence at Staffordshire St gallery for the London Design Festival 2023.
We are looking for passionate and dedicated emerging creative practitioners, from Southwark and the surrounding areas, to submit their work for a unique exhibition opportunity.
11:11 will run from 14th - 24th September 2023, featuring the works of 11 leading established artists, curated by Jan Hendzel Studio, alongside the works of 11 up-and-coming local talents selected from the open call.
The 11 established artists will select 1 applicant each from open call to exhibit work alongside their own in the show... and this is your chance to be one of them!

Today Isola debuted at the London Design Festival 2023 (l_d_f_official).
For the first time here, in the Bargehouse, within the materialmatters.design fair, Isola has brought its community into a dynamic venue involving forward-looking designers and design studios worldwide.
Following Isola`s theme for 2023, Nothing Happens if Nothing Happens, the exhibition highlights design and techniques that use regenerative resources, reduce carbon dioxide emissions, and repurpose waste materials. Part of the set-up has seen the collaboration of iammi.iammi and re_mat_srl, an innovative start-up aiming to revolutionize the polyurethane foam supply chain.
Isola has further partnered up with IAMMI for a project commissioned by the_good_plastic_company , to create the “Blue Metropolis”, the bar of the exhibition where you can grab a drink or treat.
