FRIEZE LOS ANGELES!!! 😇🙌🏼
~
Hey friends, I hope all is well!! 😇🙌🏼 I know it’s been a little bit since I’ve been in the parks and you guys have seen me! 😪😂 but I’ve been working on some really exciting things!! And one of those happened to be Frieze!!! 🤩 Over the past week I had the absolute privilege of being able to work an event called Frieze Los Angeles!
~
Frieze Los Angeles is a leading international art fair that was launched in 2019. Christine Messineo is the Director of Frieze Los Angeles and Frieze New York!! Guests from all over the world come to see this amazing artwork and hosts celebrities, politicians, and the public as well! Frieze Los Angeles largely focuses on contemporary art and celebrates the exceptionally dynamic culture of Los Angeles and its global contributions to the visual arts.
~
This year it took place at the Santa Monica Airport and I had such a blast being able to apart of something so special and work with some really incredible people! 🙌🏼 I normally don’t share a whole lot of what I do outside of Disney but I thought this was something cool! 😅 Can’t wait to be back in the parks and for Magic Happens!! 😇🙌🏼

“California-based artist Narsiso Martinez has been named the winner of Frieze’s Impact Prize for his work addressing the immigrant experience within the U.S agriculture industrial complex, the organization announced.
[Presented in partnership with Define American, a non-profit narrative change organization that uses the power of storytelling to humanize conversations about immigrants, the 2023 Impact Prize is a major initiative launched together with Endeavor Impact.]
“Martinez will be awarded $25,000, and his work SIN BANDANA, a series of 12 charcoal portraits of farm workers [see images 3 and 4], will be featured at this year’s edition of Frieze Los Angeles.
“According to Frieze, Impact Prize winners are chosen for their ‘impact on contemporary art and society.’ Martinez’s work is a powerful reminder of how vital Central and South Americans living in the United States are to California and to the agriculture industry. According to the Center for Farmworker Families, between one third and one half of all farmworkers in the US live in California, and roughly 75% of California farmworkers are undocumented.
“The portraits that comprise SIN BANDANA, which are executed on discarded produce boxes collected from grocery stores, draw on Martinez’s personal experience as a farm worker and shed light on the people behind the work that fills produce sections and restaurant kitchens across the U.S.” [Daniel Cassady for artnews.com, 2023 02 09]
