Was denkt ihr darüber?

Thanks to everyone who joined us for the world premiere of mariannasimnett`s `GORGON` last night!
The flute opera centres on Greta, a girl working the night shift at a train station doughnut stand, played by jessicaaszodi. As Greta seeks to escape the drudgery of her job, she becomes determined to harness the power of Gorgon`s haunting cry. She sends her intern Hans, played by Maria Portela Larisch, out in pursuit of the shape-shifting entity.
On her quest, Greta ventures into the deep woods and encounters an array of uncanny creatures, including a girl trapped in the body of a dog. The dog`s voice is transformed using artist holly_herndon’s `Holly+` voice model to be converted into Herndon’s own singing voice.
The flute opera`s score, performed by flautists royamotz, julie_huguet_flute, malinsieberns and eatdeliciousapple, is transformed into AI-generated sounds in real-time. This transformation is achieved using custom AI models developed by hexorcismos.
We look forward to the remaining performances and extend our thanks to those who made mariannasimnett`s stage debut possible.

THESES ON HOPE
#13 Ioana Nemeș: Times Colliding
betweenbridgesfoundation
13 September–28 October
.
come by for a tour and a memorable (re)discovery.
.
Between Bridges is delighted to present an exhibition by Romanian conceptual artist Ioana Nemeș (1979–2011), to date her first solo show in a non-commercial art space in Germany. Comprising several series from the last decade of her artistic output across a variety of media, the exhibition orbits around an elaborate composite of works, a diagrammatic system of (self-) observations grouped under the umbrella title Monthly Evaluations (2005–2010): Driven by the desire “to record, dissect, understand and describe the intangible things such as life or time”, Nemeș developed a methodology of day-to-day assessments based on a distinct set of parameters. The artist then coupled these daily charts with numerical systems, colour codes, and fragments of poetic texts. These evaluations have generated an archive of lived experience, a framework from which Nemeș could operate, extracting particular days and giving shape to them as paintings, objects, or sculptures. In doing so she could bind works together as elliptically linked compositions and possible narratives; assessing the intersections between psychological rhythms that were both personal and historical; and transforming abstract notions of time into palpable and affective forms. The exhibition is jointly curated by Kilobase Bucharest, Fanny Hauser and Viktor Neumann.

come by for a tour and a memorable (re)discovery.

Berlin Art Week (berlinartweek) starts on September 13 and Yoko Ono’s (yokoono) historic, ground breaking and influential performance “Cut Piece” from 1964 is headlining our second annual performance festival PERFORM!.
✂️ "Cut Piece" is one of Yoko Ono`s earliest performance works: here the artist sat alone, in her best clothes, on the floor with a pair of scissors in front of her. The audience was instructed to take turns walking up to her and using the scissors to cut off a small piece of her clothing, which they were then allowed to keep. For Berlin Art Week, Neue Nationalgalerie is collaborating with Studio Yoko Ono and Berlin-based performers will perform the work.
📅 The performances will take place each day from September 12 to 17, at 5pm in the Mies hall.

Experience art like never before within a former bunker 💣
As part of Berlin Art Week, the unique former bunker and now a world-class contemporary art landmark will invite to their open house. Situated in Berlin, the high-rise bunker serves as a residence for the artworks of the private collection of Karen and Christian Boros. The boroscollection comprises various sets of artworks by global artists ranging from 1990 up to the current time.
The bunker was constructed during the World War II and was originally based on plans of the architect Karl Bonatz. It could hold up to 3000 people seated across five floors during air raids. In 2003, Karen and Christian Boros bought the bunker to turn it into a place for their modern art collection and to open it to the public. Today, it offers 3000m2 of exhibition space, and a 500m2 rooftop addition serves as a living area for the art collector and his family.
Since its establishment in 1941, the bunker has undergone several shifts in its intended use, including a storage facility for imported tropical fruits and the techno club.
Regarded as one of the most distinctive gallery experiences worldwide, the place was designed by architects Jens Casper, Petra Petersson, and Andrew Strickland.
The existing bunker was surrounded by a 1,8-meter-thick perimeter concrete wall and a 3-meter-thick concrete ceiling. Exterior additions were removed, facades cleaned, and structures refurbished. To create proper exhibition spaces, certain ceilings and walls were modified to interconnect spaces both horizontally and vertically.
Apart from the typical “white cube” spaces, there’s a deliberate blend of art and architecture in how they interact structurally and spatially. Different wall textures, ceilings, floors, and historical elements remain visible.
