Nikita Shokhov Installation
Nikita Shokhov Installation: “From Carnival to Russian Drag: Experience of upside-down reality”
The solo show of US-based artist Nikita Shokhov includes his photography series SCAN and video installation DRAGZINA (collaboration with Masha Vorslav). Pushing the boundaries of what documentary means today, Nikita uses lens-based media to learn from and transmit experiences of different communities he is not a part of. In the first work, he reveals the carnivalesque nature of the official military and religious parades. He creates an AR platform for a Russian drag queen collective in the other work.
