Art exhibitions at Emerson Dorsch are conceptually rigorous. They invite the viewer to experience art in a fresh, meaningful way. This is true for new audiences and for aficionados.

Visual art can often represent complex feelings that are beyond words. The current exhibition, “This is the time. And this is the record of the time PT3,” captures the zeitgeist of the past three years. The artists explore this time in their art through various media, including sound.

Irgin Sena

Irgin Sena uses objects, materials, and surfaces in ways that invite a closer look. An example is the piece 38 five (pencil, watercolor on canvas on aluminum, thread, wood). The “wood” refers to a baseball bat suspended with thread from the other parts of the sculpture. Sena draws with a pencil directly on the wall to create the bat’s shadow. Gallery lighting casts a second shadow from the sculpture. What is real?

Andy Van Dinh

This is the time. And this is the record of the time PT3, a group exhibition curated by Carlos Rigau with works by Jessica Gispert, Nick Klein, Seung-Min Lee, T. Eliott Mansa, Karen Rifas, Irgin Sena, Matt Taber, and Andy Van Dinh. The exhibition will be on view from July 8th – August 20th, 2022.
