“The Path”

Lost in the moment is the best way I can describe what it was like getting this shot. When I shot this, it wasn’t even me behind the camera anymore. Something took over and I was gone. Waves were hitting me higher than my waist, I lost my favorite hat and don’t even remember it coming off. The only thing that mattered was the shot. Nothing else existed except for the camera, the sky, and the ocean!!
I remember being dry and inching closer and closer to the water trying to keep water out of my boots, until being dry didn’t matter anymore. I committed… Nothing mattered! Some of the most intense and beautiful colors were in front of me and all around. It was just me, the ocean, the most beautiful sky and my camera. I had dug my tripod legs deep into the sand to avoid any shake and just stayed there in the water until the color had gone and I reappeared in my body and had realized what just happened.
Rewind about 20 minutes to the parking lot and walking calmly to the Ocean at 430am… or rewind hours back to when I was shooting stars over windmills all night… it was so different than this. That was slow, methodical, controlled… This was not like that!
As quickly as this moment came and left… it was perfect…one I’ll never forget. I totally left reality for that moment… Walking back to the car after the entire night of shooting and a sunrise is the best feeling to me. Such accomplishment and feeling so alive!!!!
The night had become my day, and the day my night….it was time to get some sleep. Photography is my drug of choice, and I’m never quitting!!!! Happy Summer Everyone!!
