At Expo Chicago, you can buy art or simply enjoy looking at it. It’s essentially a temporary Modern Art Museum on Lake Michigan.

Corbett vs. Dempsey is delighted to present works from the gallery’s program across a diversity of mediums. Rebecca Morris—whose paintings are featured in an upcoming survey traveling from the Institute of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, to the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago—contributes a daring new abstraction, as does Molly Zuckerman-Hartung, who will be in conversation with Tyler Blackwell, the curator of her 2021 exhibition Comic Relief at the Blaffer Art Museum in Houston, as part of the fair’s /Dialogues series. CvsD’s booth will feature two “Crystalline Prism” paintings by Josiah McElheny; an important “Apron” sculpture by Diane Simpson; a large aquatint by Charline von Heyl; a trio of mysterious works on paper by Ellen Berkenblit; tondo canvases by Philip Hanson and Brian Calvin; new paintings by Rebecca Shore, Lui Shtini, Roscoe Mitchell, and Gabrielle Garland; a brilliant, small tapestry by Christina Forrer; and an enormous tapestry by David Hartt from his series “The Garden.” Featured historical works include a group of 1970s watercolors by Karl Wirsum; a 1978 geometric abstraction by Thomas H. Kapsalis (who passed away last year, age 97); a beautiful canvas by Miyoko Ito—Kapsalis’ classmate at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago; and a sleek, super weird 1979 painting by Richard Wetzel. As a nod to the current exhibitions at the gallery, the booth also presents related monotypes by Sam Gilliam and Jimmy Wright.

SEA CRED: AN ARTWORK BY HRH PRINCE NIKOLAOS CREATED FROM OCEAN PLASTIC.
An accomplished photographer who has exhibited his work internationally since 2015, Prince Nikolaos of Greece has 19 new works in the current National Hellenic Museum (NHM) exhibition titled Resilience, which explores Greece’s strong relationship with nature including the olive tree, grapevines and the sea.
A central piece of the exhibition is a collaboration between Prince Nikolaos and Parley, a photographic mosaic titled Sea Cred raising awareness of the plastic pollution of the oceans and our bodies. The artwork is divided and printed onto 272 credit cards made of Parley Ocean Plastic®, created from upcycled plastic intercepted from remote islands, marine habitats and coastal communities. The cards were developed with Parley partner Giesecke+Devrient (G+D).
Sea Cred is inspired by the fact that humans could be consuming an average of 5 grams of plastic every week, the equivalent weight of a credit card, according to a 2019 University of Newcastle study commissioned by the World Wildlife Fund. The Resilience exhibition also features the North American premiere of Together, an immersive scene of life-size illuminated, embracing olive trees accompanied by sounds of Greek nature, which first premiered at the London Design Biennale in 2021.

This is another piece l created of Wadsworth and Jae Jerrell. They are among the founders of Africobra. I saw them at last year`s Expo Chicago. I didn`t know who they were, but because of the way they carried themselves with such a presence, I asked to take their pictures, and they agreed. I later learned of their importance to the movement of Black Art. When I learned, I would be exhibiting in this year`s Expo. I had to create this collage titled "A Mighty Love" in hopes that they would be coming back and could see it. The narrative structure of Elizabeth Tremante’s paintings is simple: people in museums and galleries looking at art. The art has been curated to accidentally reveal a poignant or darkly comic psychological undercurrent that is sensed and felt before it is understood. The museum-goers in the paintings exclusively include women, parents, caregivers, and children experiencing varying levels of dissociation, panic, and stress. The narrative structure of Elizabeth Tremante’s paintings is simple: people in museums and galleries looking at art. The art has been curated to accidentally reveal a poignant or darkly comic psychological undercurrent that is sensed and felt before it is understood. The museum-goers in the paintings exclusively include women, parents, caregivers, and children experiencing varying levels of dissociation, panic, and stress. Their bodies act out, are out of control, distorted, or are beginning to merge with the artworks and exhibition spaces themselves. [...]

Today is the opening of expochicago
I am participating with 5 new paintings.
This is the third artfair that I’ve participated in during the past few months after receiving amazing feedback from 1-54 Paris at Christie’s, Untitled at Miami Beach, and now at Expo Chicago. I’m happy and grateful to hear again that all of my paintings were sold out within a few minutes.
I am delighted to announce now I am officially represented by lucegallery
