During my trip to Brussels to visit the brafaartfair I could make a short stop at one of my favourite Art Nouveau places, I have never seen before: The Chemiserie Niguet in the Rue Royale. I have been often to Brussels, but everytime the shutters of the shopfront were closed.
Architect Paul Hankar designed this remarkable storefront in 1896 for the Chemiserie Niguet, on the ground floor of a classic 19th century building.

What role does ancient art still play in our contemporary imagination? How might contemporary visual culture help us to see the Etruscan heritage with new eyes? The exhibition AEVUM addresses these two questions, juxtaposing objects from the past and present from the Guarnacci Etruscan Museum permanent collection and by Akiko Hirai (Japan/UK) and Eleanor Herbosch (Belgium).
The word AEVUM indicates a state that lies between the eternity (timelessness) of God and the temporal experience of material beings. It is sometimes referred to as "improper eternity": on this account, the exhibition draws trajectories upon the universality of artistic feeling and the fascination that ancient art holds on contemporary society.

Bewildering, archaic, delicate and bold at the same time, new sculptures in raw clay from Robert Busato.
Roberta’s artworks are a tribute to the earth. They embrace a natural aesthetic whilst pushing the boundaries of sustainability in contemporary art and in the tradition of making.
Ronberta creates by hand, modeling a compound of natural elements like straw and grass, carved and dried raw earth. Leaning towards the figurative representation, her research focuses on the human figure, the inner self and the body, encompassing feelings of a never-ending quest, uncertainty, fragmentation, and reconciliation. As argued by art critic Alessandra Klimciuk regarding Roberta’s sculptural heads in raw earth, these are “expression of the process of decomposition and recomposition of form representing the fundamental moments of a research that is not exclusively plastic and material, but profoundly poetic [...].”
