Le Salon du dessin s’orchestre ici sous la voûte somptueuse du Palais Brongniart mettant à l’honneur les plus belles feuilles, croquis et esquisses des siècles passés dans une véritable chasse aux trésors. En tout, ce sont plus de 1000 œuvres qui nous sont données à voir dans cet antre du dessin d’hier et d’aujourd’hui, véritable référence de l’excellence artistique, qu’on nous envie dans le monde entier. Des noms qui donnent le vertige, de Jean-Honoré Fragonard à Odilon Redon, de François Boucher à Jean-Baptiste Greuze, en passant par Gauguin, Signac, Léger, Chagall ou Sol LeWitt, tous les plus grands artistes de l’Histoire de l’art moderne et contemporain nous donnent rendez-vous place de la Bourse pour cette immense célébration.

🇬🇧 Meet the Little Prince in Paris!

🌙 The Musée des Arts Décoratifs is presenting the first major museum exhibition in France devoted to The Little Prince, a timeless masterpiece of literature. More than 600 exhibits celebrate the many facets of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry: writer, poet, aviator, explorer, journalist, inventor and philosopher, driven all his life by the humanist ideal that was the driving force behind his work.

For this exceptional tribute, the original manuscript, kept at the Morgan Library & Museum in New York and never before presented to the French public, is set against watercolours, sketches and drawings - most of which have never been published before - as well as photographs, poems, newspaper cuttings and extracts from correspondence.

The Little Prince, the last book published during Saint-Exupéry`s lifetime, was written and published in the United States in 1943 but appeared in France in 1946.

It may be spring, but weather over here in Amsterdam is very autumn-like these days: cold, windy and grey...
So this one is for all of us who are in need of a color injection.

(I posted the following story earlier before)
...I drew this one a few winters ago when all of a sudden I somehow not seemed to be able to experience the typical joy from working with color. I`d put two shades together that usually really sing and nothing, absolutely nothing would happen. Afraid that I somehow had “lost the magic” (a thing so essential yet so terribly evasive) I sat down with all my handmade color samples, trying all possible combinations, determined to evoke the muse - to not stop until I heard music. It took me three days to make it happen. Knowing from experience what life is like when the magic is gone, (I mean: really, seriously gone for years) those three days were tense. Afraid of possibly being on the brink of another dark episode, this is the joy catching wall I had to build. Luckily it`s still working!

Unfortunately kunstrai the annual Amterdam art fair has been cancelled but gallery_adorable is currently exhibiting a selection of works they would have presented in their always exiting booth, among them two of my drawings. Here a shot of Possibility, a large drawing based on one of the miniature studies that I made for #artistsupportpledge earlier this year. I love how towards the end of the day when daylight turns blue, the neon oranges start popping out... eventually they`re the last thing one sees. There`s a magic to that...
