Moises Salazar
Through my work I create alternative spaces for queer and undocumented bodies which provide safety from violence. My practice is multidisciplinary. I work with ceramics, glitter, crochet, and papier mâché. I utilize traditional craft practices to honor my family’s cultural traditions. The figures in my paintings lack facial features. The absence of expression is a metaphor for all queer Latinx youth. I depict images of intimacy, tenderness, and sensuality to document my personal experiences living in Chicago.
